It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mr. John Barbieri, a beloved former board trustee who retired in 2016. Trustee John Barbieri served on the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education for twenty-six years. Prior to being elected as a CVUSD Board Member, Mr. Barbieri served on the Personnel Commission for the District for twenty years.
Mr. Barbieri will always be remembered for his contributions and service for forty-six years to the Castro Valley community and CVUSD. His advocacy for students at the local and state level will continue to benefit the students in Castro Valley for years to come. Mr. Barbieri’s leadership on the Board of Education for many years resulted in improved opportunities and access to high quality programs for all students.
Mr. Barbieri and his wife were extremely involved members of the community before they moved out of the area in retirement. We are forever grateful to have had the opportunity to know Mr. Barbieri who modeled for all of us what it means to be a caring leader who puts others above himself.
We keep Mr. Barbieri's family in our thoughts and prayers as we remember him for his legacy and amazing contributions to our school district and the Castro Valley community.
