Principal's Greeting

Jensen Jaguar Families!

Thank you to our PTA for providing pumpkins for our Pumpkin Patch this year!  All students participated and will be bringing home a pumpkin today!   Thank you also to our 5th graders for their dance performance Payaso de Rodeo during Friday Flag.  The students have been practicing in PE for the past few weeks and their hard work certainly shows! They did amazing!

We have some wonderful activities and opportunities coming up at Jensen Ranch, and we look forward to having our families involved so please look for ways to volunteer and get involved!

Volunteer Opportunities: Please begin completing the additional volunteer requirements linked above. Starting in January, families wishing to volunteer on campus or drive for field trips will need to complete Levels 2 and 3, as applicable.

We Need Volunteers for Our Dia de los Muertos Activities!
We have several schoolwide volunteer opportunities coming up in October and November! First up are our Día de los Muertos activities, with information and sign-ups shared below. Next week, we will also share opportunities to support our Diwali and Veterans Day celebrations. We welcome your participation, ideas, and support!

The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill
On Thursday, October 15, our Jensen Ranch students and staff participated in the Great California ShakeOut, a statewide earthquake preparedness drill. Students will practice how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On to stay safe during an earthquake. Our students did a wonderful job practicing this drill.  This is a great opportunity to review our school safety procedures and help students feel confident and prepared in an emergency. Families are encouraged to practice earthquake safety at home, too!

Halloween Costumes: Students are welcome to wear Halloween costumes to school on Friday, October 30! If your child plans to dress up, please take a few minutes to review our costume guidelines together so everyone understands what is and isn't permitted. We want this to be a fun, safe, and enjoyable day for all our Jaguars!

Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping make Jensen Ranch such a welcoming and connected school community!

The Trashion Show is Coming: Our 2nd Annual Green Ribbon Trashion Show is scheduled for Friday, November 13th.  All entries are due on Tuesday, November 10th.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Review Drop-Off Pick Up Safety Reminders!

  1. There is NO parent/ visitor parking in our staff parking lot.  If you must park your vehicle, please park along the street in designated areas only.  Do not park in our loading zones during pick-up or drop-off times (anywhere inside the drop-off circle).  Do not park or pick-up in red zones/cone zones.
  2. Always obey the 5 mph rule and be cell phone free when in the pick-up zone!
  3. Pull forward as far as possible in the car line and wait until the staff member or volunteer clears you to drop off/ pick up your child.  During pick-up, if you find yourself at the front of the line and your child is not visible, you must pull out of the lot and circle around by carefully turning left onto Carson Lane.
  4. There is only ONE entrance to the lot at Carson and Kit.  Do not enter through the exit.  Do not exit through the entrance.     Do not block the crosswalk.
  5. Carpool whenever possible; this helps to alleviate congestion.
  6. Children are to exit the vehicle on the passenger side, nearest to the curb.  This ensures that children are not walking between/ behind cars.
  7. Parents are not to get out of the car to assist. Have child safety locks turned off.  Do not pack items in the trunk; this significantly slows down the process. The teacher/volunteer stationed in the Pick-Up/ Drop-Off area will help your child exit/ enter your vehicle if needed.
  8. Always use the crosswalk supported by the crossing guard. Do not motion for your child to run through traffic/cross the street to your parked car.  Hold onto your young child’s hand when walking across the crosswalks.
  9. Be respectful of the teachers/ volunteers who serve as yard duty supervisors in the lot.  Accidents happen.  It is our collective responsibility to ensure everyone’s safety, including your child’s.  No compromise is worth the potential risks involved.

This information can be found in the Jensen Ranch Handbook and is part of the annual registration process. It is your responsibility to know the drop-off and pick-up rules & to discuss these rules with your children & anyone who drops your children off or picks them up.
